Marijuana Grow Remedies

The activities associated with Marijuana Grow Operations (MGO's) produce favourable conditions for mould growth and fungal amplification. The use of pesticides and fertilizers may also result in unsafe conditions.

Mould needs very little to begin growing. The simple combination of a food source (wood, paper, drywall, r dust), mould spores, an amiable temperature, and moisture will produce the perfect environment for mould. Because mould is so easily formed, practically every home and building in the world is prone to a mould contamination. If your home was previously a marijuana grow-op, it was a disaster waiting to happen. It only takes 24-48 hours for mould to start growing after exposure to a moist source like high humidity. Typically, grow-ops are in operation or several years, meaning that if your home has been impacted by illegal activities, action must be taken immediately.

In order to protect unsuspecting homebuyers and investors from purchasing these properties, several municipalities have introduced "Grow-Op Bylaws" requiring that an Environmental Assessment be conducted to ensure the property is safe for occupancy.

If your property has been impacted by a marijuana grow operation, the first thing you need to do is contact a professional environmental inspection service to complete a certified inspection of your home. Assurance Environmental provides the following services:
  • property assessment to determine extent of remediation work required
  • identification and quantification of fungal (mould) contamination
  • prepare a Scope of Work detailing the remediation required
  • site monitoring to ensure compliance and adherence to applicable guidelines and regulations
  • clearance air sampling to ensure all contamination has been removed
  • preparation of reports and documentation required by the municipalities
Assurance Environmental has conducted assessments and submitted clearance reports satisfying conditions required by The City of Toronto, Vaughan, Peel Region, Durham Region, Simcoe County, City of Barrie and the Electrical Safety Authority (ESA). Our highest priority is the health and safety of our customers, and we will work to provide an effective solution to address your concerns. Should you suspect that your property has been impacted by illegal activities, please contact us for help.
